Velocitas is a 2.5D single-player side-scrolling precision platformer where you play as a prisoner and must make use of the magical rune on your hand to escape from a mysterious underground magical dungeon.

Narrative Design Contributions
For Velocitas I created an entire backstory for the lore of the game. We were going to implement a narrative component but due to time constraints as well as our lack of experience we decided against creating cutscenes in order to prioritise the gameplay and functionality of the game.
However the story was “Mystical beings from an uncharted planet imprisons a Foreign specimen that crash landed in their forest, unbeknown to the powers they have unleashed.
Level Design Contributions
The image on the left is the level that I created for Velocitas. The original version of the level varied drastically to how it is set out now. However this final design was achieved through conducting extensive playtesting sessions and collating feedback based on player patterns and activity in the level. The final result is a level that is still difficult for the player to complete. However it is completable and is definitely a challenge for anyone who is familiar with the mechanics of Velocitas. I definitely learnt a lot from creating this level and have used my experience with this level design to help create better and more engaging level designs in projects that I undertook after completing development on Velocitas.
